Thoughtful Service
I try to be well prepared to
process city issues with your
other elected Council
members.
Balanced Life
Being a good husband,
father, and grandfather are all
important.
Four years ago you elected me to take a fresh
look at our City's business.
I did just that.  It was difficult for me as well as City
Staff and Council.  I replaced a good man, Dan
Tonkovich.  Folks were concerned.
Indepth Study
I looked at issues, often drilling down into technical
reports, asking questions that hadn't been asked
or asked recently.  My sincere interest gradually
convinced folks that I was here to help and clarify
matters for citizens, not demean and cause
non-productive dissension.
Initial Conclusions

Americans are not  timid people who run away from problems or hide their
talents.  When we have troubles we face them.  With hard work and creativity we
will make changes so our children and grandchildren have a better life.  Locally
we need to move ahead, being wise with our financial resources and taking up
the opportunities that others have worked hard to provide for us.

The Future
I concluded that a new multi modal I-5 replacement bridge is really what our
community and region  needs.  Light rail needs to be included as it  capitalizes on
the system that already exists, is affordable for most, and relieves roadway
congestion.

I also realized that Council as a whole had been overly optimistic about revenues.

(
They reflected  the then commonly held citizen and business leader beliefs.)
