Over four years ago I was elected to
take a fresh look at the City of
Vancouver's business.
I did just that. It was difficult for me as well as city staff and
Council. However, working together we were able to stabilize
Vancouver finances and provide essential services within our
means.
During my time on Vancouver Council, I worked collaboratively
with local and regional leaders on efforts to move our region
forward economically by improving our transportation and utility
infrastructure. This included highly visible needs such as the
Columbia River Crossing project and less visible needs such
as wastewater treatment to open up shovel ready industrial
sites in Discovery Corridor between Vancouver and Ridgefield.
Having these sites could well lead to similar exponential
employment growth as seen in Hillsboro.
I will carefully consider the needs of Clark County's citizens and cities.
I will consult with experts in making policy decisions. I will make
decisions which are fiscally appropriate and not driven by radical
agendas. I will take a long term view of what will benefit our people
and econonomy while working our way though our current financial
problems.
When we have troubles I will face them.
With hard work and creativity, together we will make changes so our
children and grandchildren have healthy, quality lives. Locally we
need to move ahead, being wise with our resources and taking up the
opportunities that others have worked hard to provide us.
.
